    I purchased this book as a gift for a hunter but took the time to read it myself before wrapping it up. The book is suitable for hunters and nonhunters alike (as a nonhunter, I thoroughly enjoyed the book). The writing is informed and insightful, yet down to earth and easy to understand; the photography is stunning; and the recipes look delicious. You can tell that the author is very knowledgeable and passionate about both hunting and cooking, but there’s a quality of humility in the writing that allows the idea of processing a deer and cooking with the venison seem much less daunting. Overall, Venison: The Slay to Gourmet Field to Kitchen Cookbook would be a great book for anyone who enjoys hunting and/or cooking at any skill level!
