There has been a lot of interest and research on the Paleo diet in the last decade and results have been mixed, to say the least. There seems to be logic in the fact that it is only human lifestyle that has changed over the centuries and become more sedentary and not necessarily the body’s composition leading us to think that earlier food habits are probably what suit us best.

This is supplement with enough evidence showing people in modern times having more trouble digesting modern food than natural fruits and vegetables. Medical sciences also prove that there has been less than 1% change in the anatomy of the digestive system in the last 2000 years. This is similar, say Paleo enthusiasts, to feeding a lion grass since we are stuffing our body with foods it is not equipped to handle and hence the plethora of diseases and ailments.

The issues with following such a diet in these days are many, the major one being availability of such ingredients. The dairy and grain taboo is also another major concern in modern times. The kind of energy Paleo provides was more weight resistant and high intensity which might note exactly suit the people of today given their lifestyle. A lot of sports enthusiasts, though, follow a typical Paleo diet. This is because the diet has lesser saturated fats and lower quantities of glucose than most other foods and is thus a good combination of intake.

All in all, while it is impossible to replicate an exact Paleo diet in today’s times, one can definitely follow bits and pieces of it based on availability of ingredients and lifestyle. These diets have proven to be beneficial to a host of body conditions like diabetes and heart ailments and take one of a path of better health.

    I have always been a fan of the Paleo diet and although I do not follow it meticulously, I can still certainly say that it carries a big influence over into my own personal diet so I am always on the search to find out new tasty recipes.It goes without saying that I have read my fair share of Paleo related cookbooks and with this being said, I can say with confidence that Jamie Stewart’s book is up there with the best of them in regard to being insightful, detailed and clearly expressed. I would recommend this book not only to people whom are new to the diet and of course those out there that have been following the Paleo diet for a long time, but simply anyone who wants to try some new meals that are healthy without sacrificing tastiness. (Oh, and I would recommend the ‘Sticky Portugese Paleo Chicken Wings’ too!)

    As a long-term practitioner of the paleo diet I constantly search for more food recipes that expand my eating options. I’ve yearned for added choices that fit my diet for some time because I enjoy eating meats and vegetables through a variety of methods. I was thrilled to find this cookbook and I ordered it right away. Once we had it in our hands my wife and I made a dish that evening. Was it good? Our sausage and zucchini casserole was more than good; it was sublime!

    The taste of these recipes so far has been exactly what we were searching for. From Caribbean Jerk chicken and meat crust quiche to paleo pancakes and chocolate coconut macaroons, there are so many recipes in here that we look forward to each new meal choice. Of the few acceptable paleo cookbooks we have, most possess limited recipes that lack real substance and diversity. This cookbook’s recipes are so varying and inviting that we’ve been overjoyed with the knowledge that there are finally some different and fun options for us.

    Now that we’ve purchased this well written vividly illustrated cookbook, it has become a staple in our home, increasing the range of delicious foods we are able to make. I’m so glad that we found this indispensable cookbook and I’m sure that whoever buys it will feel the same way too.
