great story, loved every minute of it, September 21, 2018

FIX HER UP is a standalone read with a HEA. I LOVED this story. Every time I had to put it down all I could think of was getting back to it. I loved this hero. Noah is from a big family in a small town that owns the local hardware store. Noah and his partner own a construction company and Noah specializes in restoring old homes. He is single, big, gorgeous, smart and funny. He is 38 and had had his share of female companions but has never cared enough to marry one.

Finley is 35, recently divorced. She was living in Texas with her husband of 10 years when she decided to start her life over in a new place, a new state and a new house. She buys a house on-line in New Hampshire, packs her trailer and moves. She bought the house “as is” and sight unseen. Something about the house just spoke to her. She knows it is in bad repair but she is hoping it is not too bad and she intends to completely redo the whole house herself. She has zero experience.

She is almost devastated when she sees the house. Having been sick with a cold for the past week, driving from Texas to New Hampshire and then finding the house a complete wreck she is about read to toss in the towel. She is in way over her head. Her real estate agent, Abby, knows that she desperately needs help, she also knows that her brother Noah is the perfect man to help her fix things.

When he goes to see the house and to offer Finley his expertise, he has no idea that he is about to change his life. I loved this guy. He was so great to Finley and when he realizes that he is falling for her he sets out to win her over. His big family gets in his way a few times but they all act out of love. It is a great romance, a fun, light-hearted, entertaining love story. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it.

I loved that the story is modern day, there are some steamy scenes once they face the fact that they are falling for each other and realize it is exactly what they want. So, if that is a problem for you, be aware. However, Noah is not only a great contractor but also a professional in the bedroom. He really sets the sheets on fire. Even there they both still have fun. It is just a good read, a good story and I definitely recommend it. There are no bad guys, no violence, no drugs, crime, etc. Just a good story about two every day people finding their HEA.

I was not paid for this review. I am not a writer nor do I know one. I am not kin to this author. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. 9/21/18

Every once in a while a book comes along that just warms your heart and gives you all the feels. Fix Her Up by Carey Heywood is just that book. Once I started this book, I couldn’t put it down. Ms. Heywood has taken the obsession that a lot of us share, home remodeling, and given us a book that is truly a wonderful story.

Finley has left behind a terrible marriage and moved across the country so that she can get on with her life on her own terms. She buys a run-down house with hopes that as she rebuilds the house, she’ll rebuild her life. Enter Noah. A contractor by day, he helps Finley at night. His is her realtor’s brother, he just showed up and started helping.

Not being one to settle down, something about Finley speaks to Noah. He knows what he wants but he has to help Finley realize that what they can have is worth it. Together they find what they’re looking for and their journey, penned awesomely by Carey Heywood, is everything you could want in a book.

Noah is probably one of the most “real” guys I have ever read in a book. I know that we all have our preferences – millionaires, billionaires, doms, cowboys, sports figure, but Noah has them ALL beat. Totally swoon worthy and he’s good with his hands.

I loved how all the supporting characters had a story of their own to tell, but you only got a taste of it in this book. It makes the book that much more. You know you’ll be reading about these characters again.

Carey Heywood’s writing is fabulous and her characters are amazing. Fix Her Up is a fantastic start to The Fix Series and I can’t wait for more.
